Project Mosquitia began in the summer of 1997 after my first visit to the Honduran Mosquitia. After subsequent visits to this and other locations in Honduras it was soon apparent that readilly available information regarding the herpetological diversity of this region was sorely needed. Fortunately, there have been a number of recent publications and efforts made to document the natural history of Honduras. A list of some of these publications can be found here.
The purpose of this website is to provide visitors with basic information regarding the herpetological diversity of the Honduran Mosquitia as well as other regions within Honduras. While the main emphasis of this site is Honduran herpetology, my duties often require herpetological investigations in other countries. Due to this, highlights from some of these additional expeditions will also be featured on this site.
